The student involved reported walking alone
about 9:15 a.m. along Jacob Street between First and Second streets, behind
the Hotel Louisville (formerly, Holiday Inn).
She said heard two men walking behind her.
When they began walking faster, she turned and looked at them and they
stopped. When the men broke into a run, she turned again, but one of the men
had caught up. She said he spoke to her and opened his jacket, revealing a
handgun. At that point, the student ran into the hotel and called police. The
men were last seen running south on Second Street.<br /><br />The
student described the man with the gun as a dark-skinned African American
male in his 20s, about 5Æ10ö with a thin build. He was wearing an orange
Nautica jacket and blue jeans. The second man was described as a
light-skinned African American male in his 20s, about 5Æ5ö with a medium
build. He was wearing a light-colored hoodie and blue jeans.<br
/><br />Security thinks these same two men may have also approached
a man at ThorntonÆs and attempted to take his wallet.<br /><br
/>While the incident took place off campus, JCTC Security is working with
police and reviewing security camera footage to see if the men had been on
campus at any point and to aid in the identification of the alleged
assailants.<br /><br />Chief Steve Martin asks that anyone who
thinks they might have information about the identity of the two men to call
JCTC Downtown Campus Security at 213-5000 or Louisville Metro PoliceÆs
anonymous tipline at 574-LMPD. |
